Many companies provide reporting. Reporting is essentially what a newspaper does. It is a discussion of the facts; a description of the product or service with no embellishment. Reporting tends to identify or describe that which is known.
Research, on the other hand, attempts to uncover the unknown. It looks for the missing pieces of the puzzle or uncover facts which are not, at first, obvious.
Analysis is the documentation of expert opinion. Analysis is an expert commentary on the facts documented through reporting or uncovered by research.
